Thrift Store

Thrift store volunteers may act as cashiers, customer service, or sort, price and stock donated items. Some positions require standing and lifting. Thrift store shifts vary from 4-5 hours.

Warehouse

The Warehouse receives large quantities of food and is responsible for sorting it before it goes to the packing room. From organizing produce to unloading pallets of canned food, this position requires standing and lifting. Shifts for the warehouse typically start around 9am and usually end around 1pm, although some days require longer shifts.

Our front room is where all the action happens. In this area, volunteers interact with our Neighbors in a variety of different ways. Helping the front desk check in Neighbors, assist Neighbors in choosing certain food products, and directing Neighbors where they need to go are just a few of the responsibilities. Shifts for the front room are typically 4 hours.

Friendly faces and caring hearts are highly valued as an Interviewer. Basic computer skills are required for entering and updating information in the database. Also being able to listen, counsel, and use our printed resources to direct neighbors to other resources that may be of use to them. A typical interviewer shift would be 11:45am-4pm.

Packing and Stocking

Packing and Stocking

We are responsible for restocking and organizing the packing room and preparing bags for our Neighbors. This position involves loading cans on a dolly, moving carts of food, and lifting bags to hand to the Neighbors. This position requires standing and lifting. Shifts in this area are typically 2-4 hours, depending on the day.

    Do you allow minors to volunteer?

    Absolutely! We only require volunteers under the age of 16 to have a parent or guardian accompany them and be present at all times.

    Do you accept group visits?

    Yes, we welcome small teams of volunteers, such as youth groups. We do ask that you plan your visit with us in advance so we can coordinate with our regular volunteers and workload. Please, give us a call for further group information.

    What hours would I be able to volunteer?

    Some of our volunteer positions work different hours (see volunteer descriptions for more details). Typically, volunteers will work during our normal operating hours of 12pm-4pm.

    What days can I volunteer?

    You can volunteer with us any day we are open! Our operating days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Many of our volunteers pick one day a week, but there may be opportunities to volunteer more throughout the week.
