Create as many recipes as you can from one of our bags of groceries (plus a few pantry items)!
In this Challenge, participants will pick up a bag of groceries (plus a list of pantry staples) from the Sevier County Food Ministries during the first week of March. From the food items in the bag, they create recipes for a family of four.
Submit meal recipes (using only those food items) by March 15 through email or drop off. The submitted written recipes are judged by Culinary Faculty & Students of Rel Maples Institute at Walters State, the top 4 Winners will be announced March 31 for recipes showing best use of food items, and prizes will be awarded!
Participation in this Challenge is FREE and open to anyone in Sevier County.
The purpose of this Challenge is to increase awareness of the Food Ministry resources, and provide a variety of recipes for foods distributed there as well as other local food pantries. The goal is to encourage families to utilize and “stretch” the food items received by preparing healthy recipes. (Of course, we all could use low cost meal ideas!)
